How Curious Are You About “Online Business”?
A shadowy virtual business world has sprung up from the Internet that has the potential to re-imagine your entire lifestyle if you decide to drink the cool-aid and jump in.
This business world exists entirely online and is made of small groups of people who cooperate from places all over the world to create businesses, audiences and products. We call these business “online businesses”, “Internet businesses” or sometimes “Internet marketing”. An online business does not exist in a big building with hundreds of employees sitting in cubes.
A Peek At An Online Business
Online business are generally owned by either by one person or a small group of people. All of the things normally provided by an employer are completely outsourced or not necessary including: building leasing, property maintenance, email, web hosting, human resources, office assistance. Usually, everything in an online business is outsourced except for the core business – the secret sauce.
Employees of an online business do not come to an office but generally work from home or on their laptops. These employees are usually called “virtual assistants” because most online business owners only meet their employees online in virtual “reality”.
Many online business owners and managements have decided to create businesses that they can run from anywhere in the world.
What Do Online Businesses Do?
Although huge companies like Google and Amazon are also primarily online business, that is not the type of enterprise I am trying to describe here. The online businesses that I have in mind work at a smaller scale. They tend to sell software, publish information and other content and some even sell physical products (the shipping and fulfillment is always outsourced). The goal for most online business is to create streams of passive income.
Can Anyone Do Online Business?
The short answer is yep. Online business is something that anyone can do – it takes a lot of effort, but compared to other business is has much less risk. The startup cost to an online business can be as low as the legal fees required to set up the company and the web hosting fees. You could set one up right now for something like $500. In this blog, I will be telling you more about online businesses and how to set them up. Specially, I will be honing in on online mobile app businesses where the main product is a software product for mobile devices like the iPhone.

How Curious Are You About “Online Business”?
Definitely curious enough to click. I look forward to future articles with more depth, this is pretty general but it’s a great start.
Very nice inspiring lines. But in the mean time it makes the daily life in a company building harder
@Paul – You can look forward to more articles about online business. This is something that I have been working on for the past year and talking about it is a guilty pleasure. Is there anything in particular that you are interested in?
@Friedhelm – I hear you! For me, I built my business while I was working in a typical brick and mortar cubicle job. One of the nice things about online business is that you can “try before you buy”. In the beginning, I didn’t actually want to quit my day job – it just became impossible for me to give them my full attention since I was always thinking about my business; phoning it in does not work for software developers I found out…
